Deutsche Museum

I started early in the morning on the hotel's internet, but it was still after 10:00 before we headed in to the Deutsche Museum, a huge collection of science and technology on an island in the Isar River. We started off around noon in the boats and ships, and then biochemistry. Kenny wanted to go through the environment display, where there was a long lesson on the impact of humans on earth.

We had more wieners and brats for lunch, in the museum cafe, then went back out to the soccer dosplay, which included a large (!) screen of the Ecuador-Costa Rica game. The boys and Marilyn sat for a while, and I caught up on the blog writeup. We went back downstairs for the bridge and tunnel gallery, then found a big Foucault pendulum in the stairwell. We saw a Cray computer upstairs (Hey, Grandpa!), and an au natural sunbather on the riverbank outside, before we were kicked out at 5:00.

We found a television in a Bavarian restaurant on the Marienplatz (schweinebraten, wiener schnitzel, weiß bier, etc), and had the TV feed go out on a David Beckham free kick! I don't think we missed anything, but we didn't find out anything until we settled our bill and got back out on the plaza. It's a lot of fun to hear the echo around the plaza when somebody bounces one off the post!

The kids have finally crashed downstairs, after watching the SWE:PAR game. We waited a long time for the bus tonight, not having figured out the cell phone yet. (Still need to drop by the Tmobile guys in Marienplatz!) We were rescued by the cook from the guest house, who was on the way home. Oh, very friendly and helpful!

Tomorrow, back into the Marienplatz, to the Rathaus and die Frauenkirche. Another free day!
